Kevin Ancell

Biography

Kevin Ancell is an artist and surfer based in Hawaii. Ancell was born in 1963 and raised in Santa Monica, CA. He began surfing at age nine. Ancell grew up in Venice alongside skate/surf legends the Z-Boys. At the same time he apprenticed under artists Ed Ruscha and Bill Al Bengston. Since then he has continued his art practice, often collaborating with artists such as Barry McGee on large scale installation projects. Kevin Ancell was interviewed May 22nd, 2002 in Pacifica, CA.
